Roots for the Future is offering unpaid carers a “green prescription” of eco-therapy sessions. Some sessions will be practicing mindfulness in a local green space. Others will be woodland sessions of forest bathing - slow, mindful walking, opening all your senses to nature, scientifically proven to improve health.
The first session is taking place next month to mark Spring, on Thursday 20th March, 10.30am to 12.30pm at Farncombe community garden.
Tickets are available here https://bit.ly/4ieJ8RR
Roots for the Future has funding from Surrey County Council which subsidises 80% of the costs so that the carer only needs to pay £5.
These wellbeing sessions help people use nature to promote the relaxation response which repairs and restores our bodies and minds. We will be laying the foundations for regularly using nature for wellness, so you can maintain your own health while you continue to care for your loved one.
We have funding for 8 sessions that will take place from spring until early autumn. If you or anyone you know is an unpaid carer, these sessions could help with maintaining wellbeing while caring for a loved one. You can read more here and sign up for updates as more dates become available or email Francesca@rootsforthefuture.co.uk to be kept in touch.
