Key Paid and Voluntary Roles at Citizen’s Advice Waverley

Citizen’s Advice Waverley is looking for positive, open and approachable people who are both excellent communicators and team workers, who respect others differences and are fully committed to the aims and principles of Citizens Advice to fill the following roles:

Area Session Supervisor – Godalming
(£25,113 – £26,500 p.a pro rata depending on experience)
This is a key role providing day to day management and motivation to the volunteer advice team. You will mentor, coach and supervise volunteers to ensure the most effective service is delivered our clients. The Advice Supervisor is essential in ensuring that the service is professional, impartial, pragmatic and outcome focused. It is part time role, working up to four days/week (the number of days can be flexible).

Community Volunteer Co-ordinator
District wide (salary negotiable)
Outreach services are based within the local community of Waverley to provide advice, information and assistance to clients who are marginalised and face potential exclusion of access to advice to tackle the problems they face. Our aim to is to identify meaningful ways to engage with all people who live in and work in Waverley and, specifically, with those who need our help the most. In order to achieve this, we are looking to recruit a team of volunteers who will work with our communities to better understand their needs and the nature of the help that they would find most useful. We are looking for some who is already an experienced Adviser to co-ordinate the work of these volunteers in order to make the best use of the resources dedicated to this project. This is a part time role (hours to be negotiated). It can be based anywhere in the District but will require the post holder to travel and so must hold a clean driver’s license and have the use of a car.

Community Engagement Officers – Locations across the District (voluntary x 6 posts)
We are looking for a number of volunteers to act as be key contributors in our helping us better understand the needs of our community so that we provide them with the right support. In the first instance, you will conduct intensive research to provide us with the data we need to provide meaningful methods of community engagement. You will then deliver a range of initiatives including the promotion of our services, providing training and education to clients and organizing community events. You do not need to be a qualified Adviser to carry out this role or have worked for Citizen’s Advice previously. You must, however, have a clean driver’s license and use of car to fulfill this role.

Advisers – Locations across the District (voluntary)
Our Advisers provide confidential, impartial and free information and advice on a wide range of subjects including housing, employment law, debt management, benefits, consumer and family law. You will interview clients, both face to face on the telephone, research information to provide clients with options so that they can make effective decisions and, where necessary, act on behalf of the client. You will also take an active role influencing government and other organisations by informing them of the effect of their actions on the lives of clients. Opportunities exist across the District but we particularly looking for volunteers in Farnham and Godalming.

Receptionists – Locations across the District (voluntary)

Our receptionists are the first point of contact for clients visiting our offices and are essential in making people feel welcome, explaining our services and providing information where possible. They manage the transition between a client arriving and being seen by an Adviser. A friendly, calm and approachable manner is essential. Opportunities for this role exist in all our offices at Farnham, Haslemere, Cranleigh and Godalming.
