- SUPPORTING THE VOLUNTARY SECTOR IN GUILDFORD AND WAVERLEY -

Volunteering involves spending time, unpaid, to do something that is of benefit to others and/or the local environment. There are volunteering opportunities available across Guildford and Waverley with a wide array of organisations. Voluntary Action South West Surrey works with the voluntary, community and public sectors, supporting over 300 local organisations to develop volunteering opportunities and their volunteering programmes, whilst enabling individuals to access hundreds of brilliant volunteering opportunities that will bolster our community. Spending time for the benefit of others and our community is an incredible gift that we can give, and the volunteers in Guildford and Waverley, alongside the charity and voluntary sector organisations that need this vital support, are key to our communities and the wider environment.

Looking to Volunteer?

Do something amazing - give the gift of time...

People volunteer for many different reasons. For some, it gives them a sense of purpose whilst for others it is a chance to help a cause close to their heart. Whilst some volunteering opportunities require a regular time commitment, there are also many short-term or one-off opportunities. You may also be able to volunteer from home. We have opportunities for you to volunteer during the day, in the evening and at weekends, giving as much or as little time as you can. Training is usually provided and many organisations will pay your travel expenses so you are not out of pocket from volunteering. Volunteering should not cost you anything but you can check this before applying. The most important thing to think about is what will you enjoy doing, to allow you to get the most out of it. A successful volunteering experience is rewarding for both you and for the organisation you're supporting.

It is good to have an idea of what motivates you, the skills you can offer or hope to develop, and the types of activities you are most interested in. No matter what your skills are we can find a role for you. There are hundreds of volunteer roles on our database, so giving this some thought before you begin your search will definitely give you a head start. We can help guide your search for a suitable volunteer role, either online via Better Impact or through the Volunteer Centre at VASWS.

Better Impact is Voluntary Action South West Surrey’s volunteering platform. We can support you in finding a role that suits your skills, interests and the time that you would like to give. For more information please see our Better Impact page. If you cannot find the volunteering role you want, or if you need assistance in finding different roles, setting up and accessing your online account, posting a volunteer role or for anything else, please get in touch by emailing volunteer@vasws.org.uk or calling 01483 504626. You can also come into our office and talk to a volunteer advisor to chat about any concerns or find more tailored opportunities.
